Yinz asked, and Yinz received. I’ve had requests to reboot the blog vs. only posting on social because we’re all sick of the state of those platforms. What better way to kick it off than with THE GREATEST WEEK IN PITTSBURGH! You may think I’m exaggerating, but seriously, this Saturday will be the Super Bowl of Steak!

This Saturday, August 26th, 11A – 4P at The Huntingdon Place, is the 9th annual “Grill Your Ace Off ” steak cookoff and the state’s largest steak competition! There’s a lot of info to go through, so here are the fast facts.

EVENT INFO

1. Last year, $17,000 was raised for the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.
2. In eight years, the event has raised over $70,000!
3. Competitors from 14 states and three countries – Steak A (54), Steak B (50), Salsa (22), and Apple (19)!
4. The winner of each steak competition will receive $1000, a GIANT saw blade, and a Golden Ticket to the World Championship in Fort Worth.
5. TWO ancillary competitions: Anything with Salsa and Apple Dessert.
6. Making this a family event, there is a S’mores Cookoff for the kids.

Not competing? No problem!

1. As of posting, the chance auction items include bottles of Blanton’s and Buffalo Trace bourbon and many food, liquor, and themed baskets.
2. Grand prizes – Milwaukee Packout Package ($749.99 value), Ooni Koda pizza oven ($599.99 value), Oklahoma Joe Bronco Smoker with two bags of FOGO Charcoal ($473.97 value).
3. Large item prizes for $1/ticket – Blackstone 4 burner griddle with a hood. Igloo cooler filled with grilling goodies (Retail value $451).
4. Beer Pyramid – $5 for 11 tickets. Beer is donated with a minimum of 17 cases.
5. BBQ available from Comin’ In Hot BBQ.
6. Beer and pop are available.
7. IT HAS AIR CONDITIONING because we know how swampy August can get.

SPECIAL EVENT – Friday night from 5 – 8 PM will be a special Grilling Class with Brett Gallaway, co-founder of the Steak Cookoff Association and renowned as the Steak OG!
