Happy first day of summer! Here is the latest in BBQ news to help you dry out from 47 days of rain.

Winner Winner Steak Dinner

CONGRATS to Angel T. from team Comin’ In Hot as she beat out a slew of veteran steak cookers to win the $1000 prize at Chillin’ & Grillin’ on E-Street last weekend!

If you’ve been involved in the local competition BBQ scene over the last few years there’s a good chance you know Angel. She can be found alongside her dad working hard representing Comin In Hot BBQ team and has been a staple at the Grill Your Ace Off competition at William’s Ace Hardware.

Think you have what it takes to win? Bring it to “Grill Your Steak Off” on August 24th where the top prize has been doubled to $1000! You can get the details and register here.

BBQ Teams Needed!

Ceramic City Jazz, Blues, and BBQ fest (listed on our Events page) reached out searching for teams in their annual event July 5th – 6th at the Historic Diamond in Downtown East Liverpool, Ohio.

Winners in each category are looking at $250 top prize with Grand Champion walking away with $1300 (and trophy) and Reserve winning $700 (and trophy). No worries about the 6/1 deadline listed on the site. If you’re interested please Kathy Hyatt Smith via her Facebook post.

Pig Out In The Park 2019 Pig Out in the Park is currently looking for competitors and vendors for their August 17th event in Frostburg, MD!

“Join us for a fun-filled day of live music, a beer tent, a pie-eating contest, kid zone and family-friendly activities, local artist and food vendors, and a backyard BBQ competition.”

All proceeds from Pig Out in the Park benefit the non-profit organization FrostburgFirst: a Maryland Main Street Community, Inc., and efforts towards downtown revitalization, promoting small business, engaging the community, and making Frostburg a beautiful and thriving city to live, work, and visit.

Join the ODBQ Team for Memphis In May

ODBQ has gained a fast reputation for making quality BBQ and that has lead to a need. A need for speed! err sorry… a need for the best of the best on a team to take on one of the biggest BBQ events in the nation – Memphis in May!

A gentleman connected to the Memphis in May world wide BBQ competition ate here and said he would guarantee me an entree. He said I would definitely be top ten or fifteen out of the 250 contestants for the over-all award. I told him that I could not do it on such short notice.

So, I am planning for next year. All I need is a new smoker, a team of 3 or 4 helpers, and a sponsor or two. Let me know if you can weld, or if you can handle a few days of sleep deprivation, or if you can sponsor me. Any help or leads would be greatly appreciated.

Expanding BBQ Map to Western PA

Due to high demand, I’m working on expanding the Greater Pittsburgh BBQ Map to cover Western PA. We’re currently sitting at 66 BBQ joints and food trucks in our area and based off early submissions the WPA map will grow to over 80. Crazy right? I need your help to grow this to be the most comprehensive listing for BBQ fans in and visiting our state. Underdog BBQ now open in Erie

We broke this news in OUR NEW FACEBOOK GROUP (seriously, you should join) late yesterday afternoon that Underdog BBQ is opening at 3040 West Lake Road in Erie, PA today at 4 PM! If you’re not from the area I won’t get all yinzer and tell you it’s by something that’s no longer there. Instead, I’ll say “It’s by Presque Isle”.

Underdog BBQ made news recently for taking 1st place overall in the ribs for juniors category and tied for 1st place for best ribs overall at the Erie Rib Fest.

“Underdog BBQ was founded by a group of Erie entrepreneurs who wanted to open a restaurant and create a sauce that represents the city of its origin. Like Erie, its local businesses, its people and the promise of its future…this dog is still in the fight.”
